Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine. YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. After a rare week off from pageantry to recover from Miss Florida USA 2013 we are back on the road (or in this case via boat) for the Miss Teen USA Pageant. Our Miss Florida Teen USA 2013 Sydney Martinez competes for the national championship of Teenaged Pageantry this Saturday evening. Look for our recaps from the island beginning on Thursday with results on Sunday and recaps on Monday. This week in a rather quiet World Pageant News Report we go to Estonia and Sri Lanka for the awarding of their titles and passages to Miss Universe. In our Florida USA News we have reports on seven competitions covering all corners of the state. Monday’s Faces + Places goes into the audience at Miss Teen USA while this week’s Miss Florida USA Channel Movie of The Week continues the recap of our pageant week in Hollywood with a double feature. PAGEANT NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

» Miss Estonia 2012

24-year old Kätlin Valdmets, from Tallinn, was chosen Miss Estonia 2012 during a small ceremony held last July 12th. The runner-ups were Natalie Korneitsik (23, right) and Margreta Jo0sep (19, left). Kätlin Valdmets stands 175 cm tall and will now represent Estonia in the upcoming Miss Universe competition to be held in a date and venue yet to be announced.

» Miss Sri Lanka Universe 2012

Sabrina Herft was crowned as the new Siyatha Lux Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2012 on Sunday, July 22nd. She will now represent Sri Lanka at Miss Universe 2012 pageant in December. The runner-ups were Aushani Samarasinghe; Nicola Dabrera; and Luckme Perera. During the same contest, the Miss International Sri Lanka 2012 title was awarded to Madusha Mayadunne.

» ONLINE VOTING FOR MISS TEEN USA

Pageant fans are busy Saturday casting their votes for their favorite contestants for Miss Teen USA 2012. Miss Teen USA is part of the Miss Universe Organization co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal. The organization also owns the Miss USA pageant. The new Miss Teen USA will be crowned July 28 at Paradise Island, Nassau in the Bahamas. The pageant will be webcast live via at 8 p.m. ET. Contestants will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Reigning Miss Teen USA 2011 Danielle Doty of Texas has spent the past year working with several groups associated with the pageant, including Best Buddies, Project Sunshine, and Reach Out and Read.

We have finalized the South Florida qualifying pageant for our August season as Rafael Gallego directs the second edition of Miss South Miami USA + Teen USA. Held at the Coco Plum Women’s Club in South Miami this promises to be a fun title as it also covers Coconut Grove. » MISS LAKE EOLA USA + TEEN USA AUGUST 19

We are planning a wonderful second edition of The Miss Lake Eola USA + Miss Lake Eola Teen USA Pageants this upcoming August 19^that The Mezz in downtown Thornton Park Lake Eola District. The icing on the cake is that we are awarding two titles per age division (Miss Lake Eola USA & Teen USA with Miss Thornton Park USA & Teen USA) if we have more than six (6) delegates in an age division and will have a team heading to Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen Not to mention the fun that goes along with the appearances throughout the year.

This is also the only Central Florida Summer qualifier for the 2013 Miss Florida Teen USA Pageant as well as the first qualifier for our Miss Florida USA 2014 Pageant. » MISS BROWARD COUNTY FAIR ANNOUNCES DATES

For the third year The Miss Broward County Fair will be under the direction of Tel-Air Interests, Inc. as the most important fair competition in all of South Florida will take place Saturday evening November 17^th. The Pembroke Pines based event will draw contestants from Boca Raton to Miami Dade County and will represent this traditional family event for the run of the fair to November 25^th.

Last year Michelle Aguirre took her first step toward the title of Miss Florida USA whose entry was part of the fairs prize package. All of the entry fees for this competition goes to the Broward County Fair’s Youth Charities. So join us at the Broward Fair this year.

» MISS ART DECO PAGEANT

We now have a new “official un-official” qualifier for Miss Florida USA 2014 as Pageant Director Fatima Coello announces a new Miami Dade pageant tradition. The Miss Art Deco title is open for young women ages 18 to 27 years old and will fill the void of a September with no pageantry! The pageant will be held on Saturday September 29, 2012 beginning at 6:00 PM at the beautiful Rebeca Sosa Theater in Miami Springs located in western Miami-Dade County. We look forward to the inaugural event and will see all of our South Florida friends this upcoming September.

» MISS MIAMI LAKES USA + TEEN USA REVIVED

After a three year absence we are proud to present the second edition of Miss Miami Lakes USA + Teen USA. Now under the direction of Splurge Studios and Pageant Director Isabell Scott she now adds a second titleholder going to state next July in Hollywood. » MISS LEE COUNTY USA + TEEN USA NOVEMBER 11^th

Our first visit to Southwest Florida will take place at our traditional kickoff pageant as this year we will present the Miss Fort Myers and Miss Lee County titles together for the first time. This year’s competition will take place at The Crowne Plaza Fort Myers the evening of Sunday November 11, 2012. Pageant Director Sandi Spahn will produce this ninth annual event.
