Miss Florida USA
For more than 30 years, MISS FLORIDA USA has been a prime time TV event, now seen on a fourteen-station network in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, as well as by satellite in over 27 foreign countries.
Tel-Air and the Miss Florida USA Pageant team is the most experienced group in all the Pageant Universe. Over 200 pageants have been under their leadership and guidance beginning with the first Miss Universe telecast on CBS in 1960, the first Miss USA pageant telecast in 1965 and the first Miss Teen USA telecast in 1983.
In 1979 Tel-Air was encouraged and honored to work in its’ home state by assuming the production and staging the Miss Florida USA Pageant. In addition to our responsibilities for Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA, we also added Miss North Carolina USA and Miss North Carolina Teen USA, Miss Arkansas USA and Miss Arkansas Teen USA and he inaugural Miss Florida TEEN USA to our Pageant production portfolio. These events were in addition to the Mother/Daughter Pageant telecast. Ms. Senior Florida telecast and the launching of the Pageant DIVA TV series.
It has always been our goal to have our pageant live up to the highest standards. Every contestant should be treated equally and every Pageant should be a positive experience for every girl, win or lose. In fact we are proud of the opportunities have opened to many contestants because of heir Pageant experience.
As Tel-Air marks this 25th year of providing the leadership to Miss Florida USA we promise you it will top anything we have done in the past. The City of Hollywood is our host and co-host is the Westin Diplomat Hotel & Resorts and Broward Community College. We have planned along with our hosts many special events that will precede the Pageant and will be a part of pre-tapping and also Pageant Week.
Already the City of Hollywood has given special recognition to our reigning Queen, Carrie Mewha just before she departed to the Miss USA Pageant. In addition to the being honored by Mayor Mara Giulianti and the entire commission the US Marine Corp also presented her a plaque, and March 5 was proclaimed Miss Florida USA Day in the City.
With families wanting to stay close to home this year why not plan vacation time for July and make the Miss Florida USA Pageant a family and friends week. The Westin Diplomat has made it a lot easier for everyone coming to the Pageant and given families and friend an unbelievable rate…so come for a weekend or a week or come early and stay over….it promises to be the best Pageant EVER!
